The department of intensive care in Bangladesh Specialized Hospital is a well-equipped one with all the modern and state of the art facilities and served by experienced doctors under the supervision of consultant intensivists. The department is well integrated with all of our other departments in its services.

Intensive care unit is an area within the hospital which is specially staffed, equipped and designed to closely monitor and treat patients with life-threatening conditions. Patients may need specialized treatment because one or more of their body systems, such as their heart, lung or kidneys, are not working properly.

Our intensivists are specialized in the care of our sickest patients, and their extensive training has prepared them for the wide range of medical and surgical conditions they encounter in an intensive care environment. Our Intensivists work closely with our highly trained team of critical care nurses in order to best manage each patient's plan of care from the time they enter an intensive care unit. Due to our integrated approach to medical care and more standardized treatment protocols we ensure that may result in shorter lengths of stay and fewer complications for our patients.

The ICU is a multidisciplinary unit with a 17-bed capacity including one positive pressure and one negative pressure isolated room for critical cases. All the beds have a State-of- the-Art cardiac monitoring system all interconnected to a central monitoring unit capable of multiple functions including storing and retrieving patients’ vital data. Majority of our patients are with acute respiratory failure, septic shock, complicated surgical case, postoperative surgical cases, multiorgan failure, pulmonary embolism, hypertensive emergencies.

Neuro Intensive care is part of our services since BSH has well established neurology and neurosurgical department. A stand-by advanced mechanical ventilators, hemodialysis machine, 2D Echo machine, ultrasound machine, X-ray machine are available in the unit for use when required.
